Much of the old railway right-of-way still exists. The part within Courtenay has been developed as a multi-use path. An informal trail follows the old railbed from just past the site of the old logging pier to the breakwater. In places you can still see the railway ties. The photo shows part of this stretch, which is officially closed because of storm damage.
In the spring of 2013, plans were approved to upgrade the trail and reroute the parts of it that are being eroded.
